1. GET CREATIVE
Hang up pretty yet inspiring knick-knacks, a lot of websites now offer decor that is actually a utility. If you’re of the creative bent of mind, make the best out of waste, put up your art and find ways to make your desk unique from the rest.
A co-worker’s workstation at ClayWorks- decor created using trash/packaging material etc
2. REMINDERS AND TO-DO LIST
Set your reminders and your to-do list on colourful sticky notes, write them down with colourful pens. Colour code them on priority and you’ll serve a dual purpose of keeping your workstation colourful and keeping your work prioritized and organised.
3. ORGANISE AND DECLUTTER
KonMari your desk, and that’ll be the first step to decluttering your work life! Clear out Swiggy/Zomato receipts, crumpled tissues, shredded paper, snack crumbs, used and abused stationary, don’t-want-to-be-untangled earphones, and other stuff all of which that serve you no purpose while you’re at your desk. An organised, clean desk will enable hours of efficient work, and better time management.
4. MAKE YOUR WORKSTATION TRULY YOURS
Personalise your space, have some things on your desk that are close to your heart – a polaroid with your family/friends to keep you grounded, a desk plant/cacti (mine is called Cleo), frame your favourite quotes that give you that go-getter feel, pictures that inspire you to get into your creative spiral and give your best. You never know, you might be inspiring your neighbour too!
5. A GOOD POSTURE IS THE KEY TO COMPOSURE
The posture you sit in, the distance of your laptop screen/monitor, the placement of your keyboard, the chair you sit in everything contributes to your efficiency at work. Make your workstation ergonomic and notice the change in your work and the physical strain.
Let us know if you have any other hacks to make your workstation experience better in the comments!
